 TIPS FOR NORTH AMERICAN VISITORS

*

We can send our car to pick you up at your London hotel and take you back after the tour. You may wish to make your own arrangements, most good hotels provide a chauffeur service.

We fly mostly from Fairoaks and Lydd airfields. Fairoaks is about one hour's drive from Central London, Lydd on the South Coast about 38 minutes by train and then 15 minutes car but you have to cross Central London to catch the high speed train.

We make all arrangements with Customs, Passports and Security. A few days before your tour, we  ask you for the appropriate information to clear our flight.

' NUTS AND BOLTS '

We always quote for each individual tour or private flight - our quote covers the whole tour and everyone travelling in your party.

Other than staying overnight at a hotel - there are no extras, no service charges, no taxes, no tips.

Above all, none of the hassle normal with air travel nowadays - passengers on our flights are your own family and friends. The only baggage is whatever you want to bring on the tour. Our pilots have spent five years in the sky flying jumbo jets and trained hundreds of captains to fly routes all over the world. You are in very safe hands - just enjoy yourselves and feel like royalty.

We can pick you up from your London hotel, meet you at the airport or station, start a tour on the Continent.

We return you to the front step of your London hotel, unless of course, you wish to end your tour elsewhere in Europe.

We can arrange tours for residents of the Continent with your choice of sky tour/sky tours included.

We can tour for as many days as you wish.

The more passengers on board, the lower the price per person.

You are most welcome to register interest in a tour by giving us your holiday dates.

We will put up a notice board

We will do our best to hold a quoted price when you book months ahead.

You can reduce the price of any sky tour by making your own way to the airfield.

Staying on the Continent overnight is much less expensive than you might imagine.

And because you're spending more than a day in our hands we give you special touring rates.

Our guides speak French and German and Spanish as well as English so no need to worry about the languages on the Continent.

Sky tours make possible seeing the remoter parts of the British Isles and other spectacular places normally beyond the reach of summer visitors.

Our air partners are very popular for business travel and corporate hospitality.

Once you've flown with us you won't want to fly any other way. Our operations team stands ready to help you plan.

KEEP AN EYE ON THE WEATHER GIRL

Although we can fly in any weather please offer more than one date - in other words set aside two possible days during your holiday for a single day tour - just in case the weather conditions are unsettled. Our flying and ground tours are much more enjoyable in sunshine!

We keep close watch on the weather over the Alps – southwards the Swiss have the Italians as neighbours  - although during all seasons conditions are often perfect with crystal clear air and spectacular colours.

HELPFUL TIPS FOR NORTH AMERICAN VISITORS

You may see other tour operators posting prices for two people, four people and so on....may we point out this is nonsense.  Generally transport costs the same whether your party is two people or eight people and this is explained on our Easy Aircraft Guide found via the link at the bottom of this page. The size of aircraft required for your party has the most influence on the overall price but forming a group offers the best value for your money. There are no conceivable extra costs - other than meals and tickets - which we include although others may not. We provide the most suitable aircraft for the numbers of adults and children in your party and drive in comfortable vehicles while exploring the D Day coast and elsewhere on the Continent.

Also, treat with caution any claims from tour companies about ' trained ' guides - this is also nonsense. We do not know of anyone else who is competent, offering similar tours where famous historical places are first understood from the air then explored on the ground. All involved with British Sky Tours were trained by the Armed Forces of both Britain and the United States. Our skyguides first visited Normandy when schoolboys and most of Europe over the last forty years. Some of our ' training' was in combat and we've all put our training into practise over many years. Our French colleague is a National Guide who was brought up a mile inshore from Gold Beach and lives nearby today.

We always suggest that, if at all possible, you make up a group.

SAFE HANDS

Former British Airways jumbo captains, Bill Pritchard and Dave Frost, checking their passengers are ready to start a sky touring holiday.

During many years service with British Airways Bill Pritchard and Dave Frost spent no less than five years flying 37,000 feet in the sky at the controls of jet airliners. Many a jumbo jet captain has been taught how to safely fly 707, Tristar and 747/400 aircraft by them during their years as senior training captains with British Airways.

Happy Retirement Chaps.
